The 2018 MSL semi-finals started on two fronts tonight, the Redmen were in Peterborough for game one and the Six Nations Chiefs travelled to Oakville to open that series against the Rock. Only one road team would win, unfortunately for Redmen fans it was the Chiefs in Oakville by a final of 8-5. The Lakers handed the Redmen a 13-8 loss for the 1-0 series lead, game two is set for a return to the Memorial Centre on Tuesday August 7, 2018. The series switches to IPSC for games three and four, Wednesday August 8 and Friday August 10 both at 8 pm and during the Ontario Lacrosse Festival which will make for great atmosphere.

The Redmen and Lakers met last night at IPSC for game three of this best of seven series with the Lakers taking the first two games at home. The Ontario Lacrosse Festival is in full swing and a large and noisy crowd was in attendance, playoff atmosphere was evident from the opening whistle. For the second night in a row the Lakers went on a 5-0 unanswered run including one late in the second period and another early in the third for the 7-6 win and 3-0 series lead.

    Rest of the story

The Brooklin Redmen hosted the Peterborough Lakers for a critical game four at IPSC tonight, in a semi final series they were trailing 3-0. Full Redmen pride was on display as they were not going to get swept, particularly on home soil. The game was run and gun and, despite the fact that the Lakers forced overtime with a goal at 18:56, the Redmen did not break. Austin Shanks was the hero with his fourth goal of the game and eventual OT winner to give the home side an 11-10 win and a chance to keep playing this summer. Another good crowd on-hand, reported at 823, to witness these teams battle on the floor.

Less than a week ago the Brooklin Redmen were down 3-0 to the Peterborough Lakers in their best of seven semi-final series and the situation looked dire. Fast forward to tonight and the series is at 3-2 after an OT win last Friday and a solid 12-9 win tonight in Peterborough, their first at the Memorial Centre in 2018, and just like that the Redmen are back in the series.

I think only Six Nations games at the ILA are being streamed. You can watch them live here -- https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCazA0CZY7RBZC21-jhQ7Paw

Game 6 should be on live Wednesday night (as long as they can find someone to man the camera....for one of the games in this series they Tweeted out looking for a volunteer to do it). It's a one camera production, there are no replays and the announcer sometimes is too busy reading shout outs to viewers to actually call the play on the floor. And the intermissions are entertaining as Hell. :D You can go back and watch any of the previous games to see what I mean.

I'm surprised an NLL team hasn't done this yet.

Game six in the series goes tonight. The Redmen have won two straight, after being in a 3-0 hole, to make this a series.

Check www.brooklinredmen.ca, Twitter or the new Redmen app for all details on ticket sales and PPV option.

Get there early to soak in what promises to be great playoff atmosphere at Iroquois Park Sports Centre.

For the past three games the Brooklin Redmen faced elimination each time they stepped on the floor. Their opponents had an imposing 3-0 series lead but uncertainty did not permeate the Redmen locker room; a 9-6 win tonight has forced a seventh and deciding game on Thursday at the Memorial Centre. Mike Poulin was solid as he faced 53 shots and his defensive mates were stellar by keeping the Lakers on the outside for much of the contest. Meanwhile, Dan Lintner with four goals led the way offensively. The Redmen welcomed Kyle Rubisch back to the fold and the Lakers, sans coach Mike Hasen, were without Corey Small and gave Evan Kirk the nod in net.

The Brooklin Redmen gave their fans a great deal to cheer about and, once the sting wears off, they will be proud of this playoff run. Facing a 3-0 deficit to the Lakers just a week ago, they rattled off three straight wins, one in overtime and another to force tonight's seventh and deciding game. Tonight's game would get away from the Redmen in the final period however, and the clock displayed 13-7 for the Lakers at the final buzzer.
