DEAD POOL RULES - GAME XXX

1.) All previous NLLMB Dead Pool players (veterans) have until 11:59 p.m., Saturday November 23rd (the deadline) to verify they wish to keep their previous pick, or if they wish they may also discard and change to a new pick. Any discarded pick will immediately be eligible for selection by any other player.

2.) Former picks from DP XXIX that are NOT confirmed, may be selected by anyone, at any time before the deadline, but if the former owner of that pick decides to keep that pick, they have the right to it and a the second person attempting to claim that entry must select a new pick. Furthermore, you cannot hold onto two picks (i.e. I want Mae Young if Barks doesn't claim her. But if he does claim her, then give me OJ Simpson). You may submit a secondary "fall back" pick, but technically until it becomes your actual pick, anyone may claim it as their pick. If you pick a veteran's former unconfirmed pick, do so at your own risk.

3.) New players wishing to join the NLLMB Dead Pool game have until 11:59 p.m., Saturday 11/23 to submit their picks.

4.) Picks cannot be repeated, and no more than one pool entry per player, and are taken on a first come, first serve basis as determined by the post date and time.

5.) All picks must be alive at the deadline, which is also the start of the Dead Pool XXX game.

6.) The person picked must be listed in Wikipedia.

7.) Players cannot pick a person that is currently brain dead, on life support, is incarcerated on death row, held hostage under the threat of execution, Missing in Action (MIA) as a result of serving on active military duty, or a person that has gone/been declared missing in a remote or dangerous place under circumstances where it would be reasonable to assume that they may be dead before the game starts.

8.) The winner is determined by the first pick that dies of any cause.

9.) Wikipedia will be used to determine pick eligibility and confirm the winner.

10.) All Dead Pool losers will have to display the Avatar of the winner’s choice for a period of one month immediately following a win by a player. This one month period will be reduced to one week between the first game of the NLL Season and the NLL Championship Game. The period of display will be ended early if the next pool is started and there is a new winner. If you choose to play, and are not the winner, please honor this rule.

11.) Once the game has started, picks cannot be changed.

I'll stick with the AK-47 guy. Had a near-miss in the last round. Maybe disease can finish the job this time.

The "Edit Post" button doesn't appear to be functioning correctly. When I click it, the original post doesn't show up to edit. The window is blank.

Therefore I have to to a "Reply With Quote", then copy the text (to preserver hyperlinks), then do an "Edit Post" and paste the copied text into the blank window.

    WTF man?

Anyone else experience this issue with the Edit function?

I'll stick with Valerie Harper. Knowing my luck, I think the fact that I picked her may be the reason that she's doing rather well considering.

I saw Phyllis Diller passed last week - did anyone claim her for a Honorable Mention pick? I may be wrong but I seem to remember her in some past pools.

Yes you are correct that you do remember her in previous pools...but there is a reason that she doesn't show up any more.

Honorable mention - The Doctor - Long time pick of Phyllis Diller died August 20, 2012 two pools after being dropped (pick for DPXII to XXII)

If you just read on Facebook that Phyllis Diller has died, you're perfectly right to be sad about it.

You're also a little late. Diller died in August of 2012. Facebook was just a bit slow getting the news.

The Facebook link that's making the rounds points to a story from station WFMZ in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Nobody knows why, or why now. Even WFMZ seems a little confused about the whole thing: they've added this note to the top of their Diller obituary:

NOTE: If you have reached this page from a Facebook "recommend," please be aware that this story is from 2012. It appears that Facebook may have errantly added this recommended page to some users' timelines. WFMZ.com is investigating this issue.

Good luck to them with their investigation! And god bless you, wherever you are, Phyllis Diller.

I had thought so. I actually met her at Exton Square Mall once. There was a store one Christmas that specialized in Celebrity art. She would not allow pictured of herself unless she counted to three and only then would she pull her hand away from her face and smile. She was cordial but you could tell she thought highly of herself.

Since Ace Parker has bit the big one, I'll go with the Reverend Billy Graham. Amen.

I think we can assume that you mean George H.W. Bush, the 41st President, and not his son George W. Bush, the 43rd President, and not his grandson George P. Bush (aka "the little brown one", Jeb's son) who may become the first US President who's Hispanic.

EDIT: Yeah, I see that's who you had... ;)

  17. LOL! I'll take them all if I can! Sure makes my odds of winning better! George H.W Bush is the correct one though.
