Does Crowley even care?

I know we're not exactly Las Vegas here, but I would have to think that spending winter weekends at two of the largest casino resorts in North America would be a bit of an incentive to come play here if you have to choose a team not in your hometown. The players are tribal employees so they aren't allowed to gamble at Mohegan, but I have heard from people that work at Mohegan that they get shuttled back and forth to Foxwoods if they want. Mohegan Sun is great if you have a few hours to kill, but Foxwoods has 10x as much to do. Sure, we're an hour and a half drive from the airport, but it's not like it's a 6 hours flight from Toronto either.

This. If I played in the NLL, while New England might not be my first choice, I’d certainly pick it over going to Georgia or taking a bi-weekly 4-5 flight out west.

Black Wolves Get Two First Round Draft Picks In Trade With Philadelphia For Crowley

The New England Black Wolves have traded forward Kevin Crowley to the Philadelphia Wings for first round picks in the 2019 and 2022 NLL Entry Drafts.

“This is a deal that had to be made,” Black Wolves general manager Rich Lisk said. “We have tried the past two years to sign Kevin to a multi-year deal and we could not come to an agreement. We are unwavering in our commitment to build a team of players that want to be in New England and the team that we have assembled is just that.”

The draft picks the team receives will join a franchise with a core of young talent, including 2018 NLL Entry Draft selection Dereck Downs, who had two points in his first career game against Saskatchewan on December 28, and Colton Watkinson, who was a member of the 2017-18 NLL All-Rookie Team after being drafted in the first round by New England in 2017. Other recent early draft selections currently making an impact on the Black Wolves roster include defensemen Nick Chaykowsky and Joel Coyle, forwards Seth Oakes and JP Kealey and goaltender Doug Jamieson.

Crowley has 533 career points (257 goals, 276 assists) in 118 career games over seven seasons.

In all honesty, we all saw this coming. Crowley wanted to play in the city which he currently calls home which makes sense. At least we got a couple first round picks out of the deal. Tough to see that he didn't want to be a part of this team anymore because this team was kinda built around him in a way but so be it. At least I know the Philly games will be that much more interesting now. I think we shall let him hear the CROWLEY chants whenever he touches the ball. I'll tell you what, it threw him off some when he played for Toronto at the end of that one season.
