we've traded away so many of the guys from the glory years, it would be nice to let the last one go out on his own terms, as a Toronto Rock. But given how Big Dog's "retirement" went, I won't be holding my breath

I like the trade but not the WATSON part of it.

Was I imagining those seasons in Baltimore and Hamilton??

Your point is well taken, though. What sense does this make for Toronto. Dietrich is actually a couple of months older than Watson and has had far more injury problems over the years. I think Watson probably has more left in the tank.

I don't understand why NLL trades take so long to be announced.

Maybe because they can't reach some of the guys because they are on some job site somewhere and they want to tell them before they release it???

It's almost 2 hours till the deadline and I am sure there have been trades somewhere and nothing.....huh....

    Any insight anyone?

Sorry what I meant to say is, Watson has played with Toronto since they have been here in Toronto as the Rock.

IIRC, Watson is still a franchise player.
I know it guarantees the league maximum salary but does it give him any other special advantages such as a no trade clause?
I can't see him wanting to be a fly in.

The IP address location may not mean anything. My IP address comes up as Dublin California, because that's where my company is based. I'm 2,500 miles away in Southern Ontario.

    per insider

There have been a few deals that have been rumoured throughout the day, one including a fairly high profile vet keeper and recent Mann Cup winner, but nothing appears to be all that close to being finalized.

    Great Trade

Other than getting one first rate player back (Self), this trade would do S.F.A. to solve the Rock's short or long term issues. I can't really see why the Rush bother with it either....both sides just trading a collection of aging vets/gambles/disappointments for another set of similar. They're all decent players, but few are difference makers on their own.

Small victory that it wouldn't really make anything much worse either.

We'll see if this gets announced later.
