    LOL!
Ssshhhhh! You are not officially allowed to mention that many expansion teams (11 !) until the perennial expansion thread that occurs at the end of every season. ;)

I always though oklahoma city (NBA owner) would be a good NLL location for the aboriginal population in the state... That being said idk if lacrosse is a thing down there

Milwaukee would be the “untapped” market I’d like to see. I’m actually surprised there’s been no word of an NHL team either - the Fiserv Forum looks great, and can handle lacrosse and hockey.

He'll be 27 in February so it may be awhile before he can be a UFA. Even at 29 (when his 2 year deal is up), he can be tendered an offer and not sign it and still be the rights of the Rock.

I don't see how NY gets him for free in the short term.

Did that remain the same in the new CBA? I thought he'd be UFA at the end of this deal.

I think Milwaukee is the same as Quebec city being a hockey market that already spends money on hockey.

That plus it's super close to Chicago and Minnesota

Ideally, at 20 teams this is what I'd like to see:

    ATLANTIC
    Boston
    New York
    New England
    Philadelphia
    Halifax

    NORTHEAST
    Buffalo
    Rochester
    Toronto
    Chicago
    Minnesota

    NORTHWEST
    Vancouver
    Edmonton
    Calgary
    Saskatchewan
    Winnipeg

    WEST
    San Diego
    San Francisco
    Nashville
    Dallas
    Colorado

Difference is the NHL has nothing to gain by adding a team in Quebec (aside from the expansion fee), as Hockey is already the top sport in Canada. On the other hand, adding Milwaukee brings in another team to the States, which adds another region of potential viewership, and helps grow the game/media money. The only way I see Quebec getting a team is relocation, and I think we'll have to wait awhile for Florida (new lease with Casino money) and Carolina (new Owner).

That is a good point and I wondered that too. In fact, the Native American Times is published out of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, close to Tulsa and not that far from OKC. OKC is a nice city; I stayed there one day in 1994.

I guess it depends on what natives still reside there. Lacrosse is huge with the Iroquois.

The Cherokee & Choctaw are the biggest in Oklahoma. I know they both play lacrosse as well, but I don't know to what extent.

"....the students recommended the Nassau Coliseum as the arena for the new team. The team cited the new team’s presence as the arena’s lead tenant, noting the Islanders will be lead tenant at the new Belmont Park arena, as well as the nearby presence of another professional team, Major League Lacrosse’s Long Island Lizards, which plays close by but during spring and summer – opposite to the NLL’s fall and winter schedule."

I wonder how a team that will have 9-10 games a year in a building is being considered a "lead tenant". The Long Island Nets host many more games than the NY lax team will.

And maybe it's my skepticism as I get older but this sounds like the league relied heavily on the work of group of students versus a group/company with experience in such a study. I know the students are free help for a struggling league but I would have expected the league to go with seasoned professionals in studying the placement of a team in the largest market in North America. Maybe it's just me.....

I get what you're saying. I would've liked the students to work with experts in the field as well, but at the same time you have to gain experience in the field somehow. At least it's not like they chose students at Nassau Community College or something.

By my count, they should have just booked $20M in expansion fees, which should leave them with a bigger bank balance than they have ever had at any one time!

If they cannot afford a small amount of real market research, someone better audit the books quick ;)

Expansion fee money usually ends up getting spread mostly back through the existing teams so the league may not have a true $20 million sitting their coffers.

The League is spending more money within itself as of late, and teams are spending money on offices and practice facilities. Good for everybody I suppose right now; maybe not great for the players. It'd be nice to actually get a decent media deal though.

NCC's not bad. Besides, it's close to Adelphi and Hofstra and CW Post ...
