There really is no goalies out there, if the NLL was going to have 4 teams in expansion at once they would have to only allow teams to protect one goalie. As there is not enough talent goalies out their to be in the NLL.

Here is the list of the best goalies in the WLA from last year not in the NLL.
    • Zak Boychuk
    • Peter Dubenski
    • Dan Lewis
    • Cody Hagerdorn
All 4 of these guys have had shots in the NLL and at their best have been a teams third goalie.

If there would be 4 teams coming in at once, if teams would only be allowed to protect one goalie you could potential find a couple of bottom end starters and maybe a little better. The expansion teams could potential pick from
    • Tyler Richards - Vancouver
    • Brodie Macdonald - Georgia
    • Alex Buque - Colorado
    • Tyler Carlson - Sask
    • Calgary having to chose between one of their 2 young goalies
    • New England - Doug Jamieson
But if with those goalies potential be picked up their is not enough talent goalies to find 8 more backups.

Don't forget about Zach Higgins. He looked like he had potential in his brief NLL action this season.

Poor goalies, more scoring.... guys can get fancier and more creative with their moves. What's the problem?

Higgins had trouble stopping a beach ball last year in Georgia. Apparently, he liked Minnesota better.

The Swarm cut him loose, made MacDonald a backup and brought in Poulin and now the Swarm have a serious shot at winning the Cup.

True, but he had a pretty good game with Calgary this year (albeit it was only 45 minutes of action) and he just won the Arena Lacrosse League goalie of the year award.

For their sake, they better win this year. With Lyle Thompson and Randy Staats due big raises and Arlotta's history of gutting teams for draft picks to cut costs, it might be now or never.

    Yep.

after the top 5 or so, there's a measureable dropoff.

four more teams means four more "next level" guys, so, more than half the league will have a second tier goalie, and that guy will be backstopping a less deep defense than they would have in a 9 team league.

Average goals appears to be in the order of 12 a side. I have zero desire to see this go up to 16 a side with lots of whiffs on 22 footers......They'll have to shrink the bloody nets again.

They could make the crease bigger so the goalie has more reaction gap

Actually - don't shrink the goal - make the equipment smaller. Lets get the active goalies back into the game. Who cares about 20 goals scored a game when you can see a few insane athletic saves.

you ask any MILL fan...watching goalies in that era were special. its not as bad as it was when we had expansion and goalies padded up.

Can't agree more than with the last two posts. Get rid of the Stay Puff goalie gear.

    Edmonton Journal has an article:
    http://edmontonjournal.com/sports/local-sports/dan-barnes-next-wave-of-national-lacrosse-league-expansion-wont-include-edmonton

2 to 4 teams, which will.have NHL or NBA ownership ties. That defines the available cities, and strikes.a move away from the minor league stadiums, back to big houses.

I would say Philly and the Isle would be in play. Then there is the littany of retreat bad cities where teams failed.. Pitt, Port, Mont, Cbus, hamilton, DC, LA, Detr, and Minny.

Nba/nhl homes for new attempts, just off the cuff, although the top two have a shot: Dallas, Nashville, St Louis, Indy.. and a bunch of really bad.options like Fla cities.

The Ardmore Aardvark thinks the following cities have the best bet of being one of the four (in alphabetical order):

    • Dallas
    • Edmonton
    • New York area
    • Philadelphia

The Edmonton news article specifically says Edmonton will not be one of them.
